Tabb Scores Twice, Providence Drops Niagara

Senior forward Jessica Tabb scored two goals and added an assist as Providence defeated Niagara, 3-1, on Saturday.

Providence got on the scoreboard first when Tabb went end-to-end on a pass from senior defenseman Holley Tyng to give the Friars their first tally of the game at 8:52 of the first period.

Tabb added what proved to be the game-winning goal at 14:47 of the second period when she beat Niagara junior goaltender Tania Pinelli on a power-play attempt.

Niagara cut the Friar lead to 2-1 when junior forward Stephanie Romain scored a power-play goal following a shot by freshman defenseman Dawn Maccauley at 11:58 of the third period.

Providence junior forward Kim Mathias added an empty-net goal at 19:54 for the Friars as they earned the 3-1 decision.

In goal, freshman Amy Quinlan recorded a career-high 40 saves to backstop the Friars to their fifth victory of the season.
