Noonan’s 51 saves helps Niagara to tie with RIT

Niagara’s Chris Noonan made 51 saves but allowed Rochester Institute of Technology’s Chris Haltigin’s third-period, power-play goal as the teams skated to a 2-2 tie on Saturday.

Chris Lochner and Jeff Hannan scored to give the Purple Eagles (15-10-9, 14-6-7 Atlantic Hockey) leads, but Jeff Smith and Haltigin answered for the Tigers (17-11-6, 14-7-6).

The tie meant Niagara fell one point short of a first-place tie with Air Force and finished second in Atlantic Hockey. RIT finished in a three-way tie for third with Holy Cross and Mercyhurst but took the third spot in the playoff seeding.
