Wisconsin-River Falls thwarts Lake Forest for trip to NCAA semifinals

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Wisconsin-River Falls scored a pair of second-period goals to pull away from Lake Forest for a 4-1 victory in an NCAA quarterfinal game on Saturday.

Karleigh Wolkerstorfer and Brook Story scored 1:34 apart in the second period to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead.

Brianna Breiland scored in the first period and Dani Sibley made it 4-0 in the third.

Alex Stensland broke up Ashley Kuechle’s shutout with 24 seconds remaining for the Foresters (17-6-3).

Kuechle ended with 15 saves for River Falls (22-4-3), while Stacey Dierking stopped 23 shots for Lake Forest.
