ERIE, Pa. – With 15 seconds left in an overtime period, Josh Lammon scored the goal that might wind up as the biggest goal of the Atlantic Hockey season.

Lammon’s eighth goal of the season gave the Lakers a 3-2 victory in overtime, but more importantly, it moved the Lakers two points clear of Canisius for the Atlantic Hockey’s regular season championship. The win stamped a four-point weekend for Mercyhurst, who had to stave off two comeback attempts by the Colonials.

Patrick Piacentini’s second period goal broke a scoreless tie to give Mercyhurst a 1-0 lead. But Luke Lynch scored five minutes later to tie things up at 1-1. That held true to the third, where Kane Elliott scored just over two minutes in. But once again, RMU responded, with Robert Powers tying things with late after head coach Derek Schooley pulled the goalie.
