DULUTH, Minn. — Omaha had something to play for, the possibility of hosting the first round, and very little was on the line for Minnesota Duluth, but the Bulldogs got the win. Martin Sundberg put Omaha in front at 16:49 of the first when he got in front of the crease and deflected a shot by Luke Nogard past Hunter Shepard, but Duluth answered in the second. Karson Kuhlman tied it with a power-play goal at 9:52, picking up a loose puck at the left post during a mad scramble that had goalie Evan Weninger sliding back and forth, leaving Kuhlman an open net to snap it into. Scott Perunovich made it 2-1 at 13:22 with a breakaway goal. Perunovich got the puck at the Omaha blue line and skated in to the left faceoff circle, looked back to see if he had anyone to pass to, then fired a snap shot low glove side. Joey Anderson made it 3-1 at 17:25 with a shot from the left-side boards near the hashmarks that beat Weninger low glove side. Anderson added an empty-net power-play goal at 18:00 of the third to seal the win.
