COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Having only won a single game since Jan. 19, and having failed to hold a third-period lead Friday night, the Western Michigan Broncos looked to be in trouble again when Colorado College tied it 2-2 just 2:59 into the second on a Trey Bradley goal. However, Western seemed to unleash its frustration after that, scoring six unanswered goals in a 10-minute span of the second, starting with Josh Passolt at 9:12 of the second. Paul Stoykewych scored just 50 seconds later, deflecting a funky floating wrist shot out of midair to make it 4-2, and then the floodgates opened. Cam Orchard scored on a power play at 12:59, picking up a rebound to the left of Alex Leclerc and lifting it in. CC replaced Leclerc with Alex Calvaruso, but the Tigers also started to press, leaving Western players wide open. Ethen Frank was left alone to Calvaruso’s right and had an open net to score on at 13:48 after a pass from Passolt through the crease, and then Brett Van Os scored with a backhand alone in front when he was on a two-on-none with Orchard, who made the pass to setup the goal, and Frank capped the scoring in the period with a short-handed breakaway tally at 18:02.

The win sealed sixth place for the Broncos, who will travel to take on Minnesota Duluth in the first round of the NCHC playoffs next weekend.
