GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Cam Johnson secured his fourth consecutive shutout in No. 2 North Dakota’s 1-0 victory over Alabama-Huntsville on Friday.
Johnson made 19 saves to stretch his scoreless streak to a school-record 278:38. That passed the mark set by Gerald “Spike” Schultz in January 1954.
North Dakota’s Bryn Chyzyk scored a power-play goal in the second period, the only Fighting Hawks shot to get past the Chargers’ Carmine Guerriero.
Guerriero stopped 38 shots for Alabama-Huntsville (4-13-2).
North Dakota (17-2-2) stretched its winning streak to seven games, during which it has allowed only three goals.
Cam Johnson joins UND’s Spike Schultz (1954) and LSSU’s Blaine Lacher (1994) as the only goalies in @NCAAIceHockey with 4 straight shutouts.
