Playland rink damage from Hurricane Sandy moves Manhattanville women’s games

Damage to Manhattanville’s home arena from Hurricane Sandy has forced the Valiants’ women’s games this weekend to be moved.

The Playland Ice Casino in Rye, N.Y., was hit hard by the storm, with 4 feet of water in the basement where the ice-making plant is located, according to White Plains Patch.

The rink is home to both Manhattanville teams, and the women’s team was scheduled to host Massachusetts-Boston on Friday and St. Anselm on Saturday in ECAC East games.

Those games are being moved to the opponents’ rinks, Manhattanville sports information director Steve Sheridan said. Manhattanville will play at Massachusetts-Boston at 4 p.m. on Friday and at St. Anselm at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The men’s team is scheduled to play at Playland on Nov. 9 and 10 against Nazareth. There is no word on the status of those games, Sheridan said.
