MASCAC picks: Jan. 17

Ah, that is more like it! My first true sweep of the season happened last week when I went 3-0 on all my picks!
The MASCAC is heating up now, with even more conference games scheduled to take place tonight and this weekend.
With only a few more weeks to go, we will see which programs start to separate themselves and head into the postseason with momentum.
Let’s take a look at the picks.
Thursday, Jan. 17
Westfield State Owls (9-6-0) at Massachusetts-Dartmouth Corsairs (6-5-2)
The Corsairs are coming off a 5-1 loss to Salem State on Tuesday, after narrowly escaping Worcester State, 5-4, last week. Meanwhile, the Owls are 2-1 in their last three games, and it seems like they’re getting back on track. Even though Westfield State has been playing stronger in the second half, I still think the Corsairs get the home win. Mass.-Dartmouth 4-2
Plymouth State Panthers (11-4-0) at Salem State Vikings (8-5-1)
Game of the week in the MASCAC, or at least that is what I am calling it. The Panthers are winners of two straight, while the Vikings traded that win over Mass.-Dartmouth with a 5-3 loss to Fitchburg. Salem has been a tough to play at home, but Plymouth State is just as tough of a road team. Flip a coin on this one, but I can’t and need to make the choice. Plymouth State with the road win. Plymouth Sate 3-2
Framingham State Rams (2-12-0) at Worcester State Lancers (5-10-0)
Worcester has been playing very strong hockey as of late after the semester break. The Lancers defeated Fitchburg convincingly after losing two one-goal games prior. The Rams, on the other hand, have lost three in a row. Lancers continue to build momentum after this one. Worcester State 4-1
Picks to date: 18-8-2 (38 points)
