Spencer replaces O’Mara as Lindenwood coach

Former Robert Morris and Ohio State assistant Scott Spencer will take over as head coach at Lindenwood for the Division I women’s program’s fourth season of play.

Spencer replaces Vince O’Mara, whose contract was not renewed after three seasons. The Lions were 20-73-6 under O’Mara, who was behind the bench as the program started its Division I era in 2011.

Spencer has been the director of female hockey and the female midget head coach at the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy in Kelowna, British Columbia, for the last two seasons.

Before that, he was an assistant at Robert Morris from 2006 to 2011, including a year as associate head coach, before spending a year at Ohio State.

He also has been a men’s assistant coach at Bemidji State and with North Iowa of the NAHL.
