Capraro’s Future in Doubt

Massachusetts sophomore forward Chris Capraro has temporarily left the team and his future is uncertain.

Capraro did not play at the Sheraton/Banknorth Classic last weekend and won’t play against Massachusetts-Lowell this weekend. Details beyond that are still unclear.

UMass coach Toot Cahoon hasn’t formally suspended Capraro and the coach has declined comment, but said Capraro’s future will be determined later.

Capraro, who hasn’t played since a 5-3 loss at Harvard on Dec. 13, is the third-leading scorer for the Minutemen with three goals and 12 assists. He had seven goals and 23 points in 35 games for the Minutemen last season.

UMass is already without injured senior forward Mike Warner, and Stephen Werner, who is with the U.S. Junior National Team at the World Junior Championships.
