Beanpot semifinals postponed until Tuesday because of snowstorm

Monday’s Beanpot semifinals have been postponed until Tuesday, Northeastern announced in a Tweet on Sunday:

No. 2 Boston University will play No. 4 Harvard at 5 p.m. EST, followed by Northeastern against No. 14 Boston College.

The tournament is traditionally held on the first two Mondays in February, and this is the first time it has been postponed since 1983, when the semifinals were postponed for a day because of snow.

In 1978, a blizzard struck during the semifinals on Feb. 6, leaving some fans stranded at Boston Garden. The consolation and championship games that year were delayed until March 1.

  1. Understand the snow…but living here in Canada we rarely get a chance tlo see NCAA Div. 1 hockey…hope it will be reschedule on TV and not just another semi-meaningless NHL game.

  2. Our youth hockey team was all set to attend the semifinals when the blizzard hit.I couldn’t imagine being stranded at the old Boston Garden.
