Minnesota defenseman Skjei gives up senior year, signs with Rangers

According to Blueshirts United, Minnesota junior defenseman Brady Skjei, the New York Rangers’ first-round selection in the 2012 NHL draft, has agreed to terms with the club on an entry-level contract.

Skjei will join the Hartford Wolf Pack on an amateur tryout and will finish out the season playing in the AHL.

This past season, Skjei contributed a goal and nine assists for 10 points in 33 games with the Gophers.

Skjei also played for Team USA at the 2014 World Junior Championship, picking up an assist and posting a plus-5 plus/minus rating in five games.
