Providence adds Koopman twins – one a forward, one a defenseman – for second half of ’18-19 season

Providence announced Monday that twin brothers Matt and Kyle Koopman will join the team for the second half of the season.

The Koopmans, 20, are natives of Marblehead, Mass.

Matt, a forward, has played the last two seasons with the USHL’s Waterloo Black Hawks. After posting three goals and three assists in 55 games last season, Koopman compiled eight goals and 17 assists in 24 games this year.

Kyle, a defenseman, played parts of two seasons with Waterloo before joining the BCHL’s West Kelowna Warriors earlier this season. With West Kelowna, Koopman posted eight assists in 18 games.

The Friars return to action on Saturday, Dec. 29 against Brown at the Ledyard Bank Classic.
