The CHA tournament is moving to the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, USCHO.com has learned. Bemidji State will be the host school.

The last two years, the tournament was held in Kearney, Neb., but was looking for a new home after that deal expired. The tournament was sparsely attended in Kearney.

Green Bay, Wis., and even Estero, Fla., home of the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, were said to be in the running.

The CHA remains at six schools after Findlay disbanded its program, and Robert Morris joined the league. Six teams are the minimum required for the conference to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The Robert Morris arrangement is for one year with that school’s future status to be determined.

Another CHA member, Niagara, has applied to be part of the ECAC.
