Clarkson’s Tansey to miss first half to recover from off-ice injuries

Clarkson sophomore defenseman Kevin Tansey will miss the first semester of the 2012-13 season as he recovers from injuries sustained in an assault in Ottawa on July 31.

“We’re obviously disappointed that Kevin will be out of the lineup for now, but we wish him well on his recovery and look forward to his return when his injuries heal,” said Clarkson coach Casey Jones in a statement.

Tansey suffered a shoulder injury, three cracked ribs and a concussion in the assault. Ottawa police are conducting an investigation.

“I really appreciate all the messages and good wishes that I have received from my teammates and friends in the Clarkson community,” added Tansey. “It helps me feel better and recover more quickly to know that so many people care about my well being.”

Tansey played in all 39 games last season for the Golden Knights and recorded two goals and nine points.
