MCHA picks: Nov. 9

Well I am pleasantly surprised with my successful picks last weekend. Although my predicted scores were far from stellar, I managed to correctly pick two splits and one weekend sweep. Thus far, my picks record is 6-2 (.750), not a bad way to open a season. Here’s hoping last week wasn’t just beginner’s luck; here goes week two!
Friday-Saturday, November 9-10
Milwaukee School of Engineering at Adrian
This is going to be one of the more exciting series of the weekend. It will be a rematch of last year’s Harris Cup championship that saw MSOE snapping Adrian’s four-year streak with the trophy in a thrilling overtime game. Last week, the Bulldogs (2-0-0) swept Northland in convincing fashion. MSOE (3-1-0) had a series split with Finlandia. This weekend, each team will be playing with something to prove; Adrian will want to show that last year’s championship loss was a fluke, and MSOE will want to prove they deserved that NCAA bid. Adrian 4-2, MSOE 3-2
Lake Forest vs. Concordia
This is a home and home series. Concordia (2-2-0) has already matched last season’s wins with a series sweep over Lawrence last weekend. It’ll be interesting to see if their freshmen dominated roster can keep the momentum going. Lake Forest (1-1-0) split with Marian over the weekend. Freshman defender Andrew Stein is leading the team with two goals and two assists from the series. I’m going to predict a split this weekend with each team winning at home. Concordia 3-2, Lake Forest 3-2
Finlandia at Marian
Finlandia (1-1-0) had an impressive split with MSOE last weekend. The Lions saw five different goal scorers in the series. Marian (1-1-0) split with Lake Forest in a home-and-home series. Sophomore goalie Randy Willis was strong in the series with a .929 save percentage. Since both teams split last weekend, I’m going to go with the same result this time around. Finlandia 3-1, Marian 4-2
Lawrence at Northland
Both Lawrence and Northland were swept last weekend, Lawrence (0-2-0) by Concordia, while Northland (0-2-0) dropped two against Adrian. The two teams will be looking to get in the win column this weekend. As per my above predictions, I think the teams will split the weekend. Lawrence 3-1, Northland 3-1
