Atlantic Hockey Picks March 16-17

Last week:

Dan: 8-3
Chris: 10-1

On the season:

Dan: 112-88-25 (.553)
Chris: 123-78-25 (.600)

This Week’s Picks

Friday, March 16
Atlantic Hockey Semifinals

No. 7 Robert Morris vs. No. 1 Mercyhurst
Chris: Despite the parity exhibited all season, we have four of the usual suspects to make it to Rochester. History has been hard on the No. 1 seed in this tournament, but I think the Lakers at least make it to the finals. Mercyhurst wins.
Dan: The Lakers felt like an underrated and underwatched story throughout the season. But they were dominant down the stretch and “won their way” into the top seed. So I think they at least make the finals. Mercyhurst wins.

No. 5 Air Force vs. No. 2 Canisius
Chris: It’s hard to pick against Air Force in this tournament, so I won’t. Air Force wins.
Dan: Find me a better team in the postseason, and I’ll call you a liar. Air Force wins.

Saturday, March 17
Atlantic Hockey Final
Air Force/Canisius vs. Robert Morris/Mercyhurst
Chris: My heart says Mercyhurst but my head says Air Force. Again. Air Force wins.
Dan: Sometimes a story is made to be written. Jack Riley – in his final Atlantic Hockey game – hoists the trophy his grandfather’s name (and, in turn, his) adorns. Mercyhurst wins.
