Weekend wrap-up 12/6/10

Four points again proved to be elusive in Atlantic Hockey.  Robert Morris and Air Force were able to get three each, while every other team in league play was able to pick up at least one.

The most dramatic ending came at Air Force, where Jacques Lamoureux scored with one second remaining in regulation to finish a Falcon comeback for a wild 7-6 win over Holy Cross. The teams had tied the night before.

Robert Morris had to fight to gain a tie against Bentley on Friday, but then cruised to a 5-1 win the next night.

The rest of the conference series were splits, with dramatic differences from one night to the next. Rochester Institute of Technology and Mercyhurst were dominant in wins on Friday, but both had their fortunes reversed the next night, by AIC and Sacred Heart, respectively.

Connecticut and Niagara had a wild weekend, with the Purple Eagles winning in overtime on Friday and the Huskies coming back to hold on in a wild 8-5 slugfest on Saturday.

In the only non-conference game of the weekend, Army was beaten for the second time this season by Colgate, 3-0.

How’d I do?

I went 6-3-2 to improve on the season to 45-33-8 (.570). My guest analyst Dave Morgan went 5-4-2 and Chris Anderson finished 4-6-1. I thank both for stepping up at the last minute and submitting picks. I now move to 4-4 on the year against my guests.
