Men’s poll shows Minnesota-Duluth still top team in nation

Three teams received first-place votes, but Minnesota-Duluth garnered 47 of 50 top votes to stay atop the Division I Men’s Poll.

Ohio State earned two first-place votes and is second this week, while Minnesota had the other and is ranked third.

Boston College falls to fourth and Notre Dame stays fifth in this week’s poll.

Colorado College, Merrimack and Western Michigan remain in spots sixth through eighth, respectively, Colgate rises to ninth and Boston University rounds out the top ten.

Denver slides to No. 11, Massachusetts-Lowell jumps five to No. 12, Cornell remains 13th, Union falls to No. 14 and Michigan State falls to No. 15.

The bottom quarter has Michigan up to No. 16, Ferris State down to No. 17, Lake Superior State at No. 18, North Dakota 19th and Yale coming in at No. 20.

Seven other teams received votes.

  1. Nothing like disrespecting Northeastern yet again. 7-0-1 in last 8. Beat @Michigan when ranked #11, beat @Notre Dame TWICE when ranked #2/3, which BC and BU couldn’t do, beat then ranked #15 UMass Lowell… and then won the Mariucci Classic by beating host then #2 Minnesota who received one first place vote in this week’s poll… yet NU is still unranked? Just have to laugh at this because it’s a great joke.

  2. I don’t expect Northeastern to be ranked in the top ten but to not rank them somewhere in the top twenty is laughable and strains the credibiity of this poll. As the previous post points out, it’s not the number of wins but who they came against, where those opponents were ranked at the time, and the fact that all but one of those wins was on the road. C’mon, the users of this site deserve better

  3. Looks like they had a few beers then simply threw darts at a board with this latest poll. Northeastern is for real and with all due respect to the previous post, they are a bonafide top ten team right now. No team can deliver the results that Northeastern has over the past month and not land in the top ten.

    • The PWR takes all of this into account and Northeastern sits at #18. So, to claim a travesty that the team is not in the top 20, let alone the top 10, is failing to look at the bigger picture. NU is a hot team, no doubt, and a great story, but the facts are the facts. If the postseason started today they would be out of the NCAA tourney, plain and simple.

      • that is such an ignorant statement. Post season doesnt start today, and Northeastern is paying for the slow start as we got used to a new coaching staff and system. What this team has done in the past month to month and a half is remarkable. I hope all the writers keep picking against this squad, as they seem to thrive as the underdog, and now have balanced scoring and superb goaltending. I am going to sit back and enjoy this season, because my expectations were very low. Beanpot is 1 month away- this could be our year to get back on top!

        • A team that has 12 pp – three times 5 on 3 and you only score 3 goals against Minnesota while giving up 2 shg – does sound like a real solid team to me. Maybe some of the writers actually watched your suad and thats why your not ranked!
