Atlantic Hockey Picks Jan. 20-24

Last Week: 9-2-1
On the Season: 116-41-18 (.714)

This Week’s Picks:

Friday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, Jan. 21
Air Force at Army – Always a highly anticipated series, these games have been sold out for a week and Friday’s contest will be carried by CBS Sports Network. Air Force is 0-5-1 in its last six games at Tate rink, but I think the Falcons find a way to earn at least a split. Air Force 3, Army 2; Army 3, Air Force 2.

Rochester Institute of Technology at Bentley – The top two defenses in the AHA meet with just two points separating the teams in the standings. I’m picking a low-scoring split. RIT 3, Bentley 2; Bentley 2, RIT 1.

Mercyhurst at Holy Cross – A big series for both teams. The Lakers can solidify their hold on first, or find themselves in fourth place by the end of the weekend. I’m picking a split here as well. Mercyhurst 4, Holy Cross 3; Holy Cross 2, Mercyhurst 1.

American International at Niagara – These teams have only played twice before, with the Purple Eagles coming out on top both times. I think they stay perfect against the Yellow Jackets. Niagara 4, AIC 2; Niagara 4, AIC 3.

Robert Morris at Connecticut – Both teams are part of a three-way tie for third place. RMU leads the all-time series 2-0, but I think the Huskies get a split on home ice. UConn 4, RMU 3; RMU 3, UConn 2.

Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 22
Sacred Heart at Canisius – Both teams are struggling right now, a combined 2-16 in their last 18 games. The all-time series is tied 17-17-5. The Golden Griffins can be right back into the thick of things with a sweep, and that’s what I think will happen. Canisius 5, Sacred Heart 3; Canisius 4, Sacred Heart 1.

Tuesday, Jan. 24
Holy Cross at Bentley – This is the first of three meetings between the two teams, who will finish up the season against each other six weeks from now. I’m going with the home team. Bentley 3, Holy Cross 2.
