SUNYAC picks: Nov. 30

The first six weeks of the SUNYAC season have been the appetizer, and Oswego, USCHO’s top-ranked team, has been gobbling up all comers. Now comes the main course, or at least the first bite of it on Saturday, as the Lakers will finally meet their prime contender, No. 7 Plattsburgh, for the first time this year. This is not the only interesting tilt on this weekend’s SUNYAC sked, however. With teams already jockeying for playoff position, every game seems to carry some sort of critical implication. (Last week’s picks: 2-1).
Friday, Nov. 30
Buffalo State at Fredonia
One of the SUNYAC’s hottest rivalries, both teams will relish the chance to do damage to the other. Fredonia has dropped three in a row — all on the road, while the Bengals snapped a four-game skid in their last start. The Blue Devils have lost once at home, while Buffalo State has only one win away from home. Fredonia 3-2
Saturday, Dec. 1
Plattsburgh at Oswego
A Platty win would send a message throughout the conference, yea, verily, throughout the country. The feeling here is that won’t get it. Oswego 4-1
Potsdam at Cortland
Both teams can be entertaining. The one that goes for broke has the better chance of coming out on top. Cortland 4-3
