Michigan State suspends Gatt, Pavelek indefinitely

Defenseman Carson Gatt had played in all of Michigan State’s games this season before sitting out last Saturday (photo: Shelley M. Szwast).

Michigan State freshmen Dylan Pavelek and Carson Gatt have been suspended indefinitely by the team for a unspecified violation of team rules, the Lansing State Journal‘s Chris Solari reported on Twitter:

Gatt played in last Friday’s game at Wisconsin but did not dress for the next night’s game, the first game the defenseman has missed this season.

Pavelek didn’t appear in either game. He missed four games early in the season because of a concussion.

    • Hey Brian,
As far as points on the board they don’t appear to be significant losses. Of the 4-5 games I’ve watched MSU this year Gatt sees significant ice time. Gatt played well in last Fridays game against WI. Don’t remember hearing Pavelek’s name called on Friday.

MacEachern has the most offensive talent, imo. Berry and the captain (forget his name) aren’t too shabby either.

    • I think with Gatt out that will hurt a bit. But the Coach has been dressing 7 D. So I don’t think the numbers will be hurt. If Jake is steady, MSU should be good. Was it Madison girls for certain?

  1. I always hate to see this kind of development…but anything to weaken their D for the Thurs. / Friday vs. the Rodents is most welcome news considering their tenuous hold on a berth in the NCAAs….shameful of me truly…but desperate times call for desperate measures….even when cheering! Maybe this helps ease the difficulty of sneaking 3 past Hildebrand!
