NCHC announces new Board of Directors, new chair of Presidents/Chancellors Committee

The NCHC has transitioned to a new chair of the Presidents/Chancellors Committee and new officer positions for the 2015-16 Board of Directors.

The 2014-15 position officers completed their final duties at the conference’s annual meeting in Naples, Fla., April 27-28 and at the presidents/chancellors meeting in Colorado Springs on May 20.

Moving into the chair of the Presidents/Chancellors Committee is Dr. John Christensen, chancellor at Nebraska-Omaha. He replaces Dr. Lendley (Lynn) Black, chancellor at Minnesota-Duluth.

Stepping into the role of chair of the board is Colorado College director of athletics Ken Ralph, who served as vice chair of the board this past season and was the treasurer for the NCHC Board of Directors in 2013-14. Ralph replaces Western Michigan director of athletics Kathy Beauregard.

Replacing Ralph as vice chair is Denver vice chancellor for athletics Peg Bradley-Doppes.

Miami director of athletics David Sayler is the new treasurer, taking over for DU associate vice chancellor for sport supervision and internal operations Ron Grahame.

Minnesota-Duluth director of athletics Josh Berlo is the new secretary.

In addition to Ralph, Bradley-Doppes, Grahame, Sayler, Berlo, Beauregard and North Dakota athletic director Brian Faison, the other members of the 2015-16 NCHC Board of Directors include Trev Alberts, Omaha director of athletics, and Heather Weems, St. Cloud State director of athletics.

Faison, who served as chair of the board for the NCHC’s first three years of existence, completed his term as past chair advisor this past season. Faison still serves as the NCHC’s representative on the NCAA Ice Hockey Championship Committee.

Denver faculty athletics representative Nancy Sampson will remain the FAR representative on the board, while Miami head coach Enrico Blasi is now the AHCA representative for 2015-16, replacing Denver head coach Jim Montgomery, who served the role in 2014-15.
