Niagara’s Curran to sit next two games after accruing third game misconduct of 2016-17 season

Atlantic Hockey has issued a one-game suspension to Niagara sophomore forward Johnny Curran following Friday night’s game (Jan. 20) against American International.

In addition, given that Curran received his third game misconduct of the 2016-17 season, he will be suspended an additional game, per NCAA rules.

Curran received a major penalty for contact to the head and a game misconduct late in the third period of Friday’s 7-3 loss to AIC. After reviewing the play, league officials determined that the correct penalties were issued and the hit warranted an additional game for supplemental discipline.

Curran will miss tonight’s series finale against AIC as he serves his one-game suspension from Atlantic Hockey and he will also be unavailable to play in the Jan. 24 game against Canisius.
