Denver and Minnesota Duluth are scoreless after one in the NCAA national championship

CHICAGO — After the first period of tonight’s NCAA national championship, Denver and Minnesota Duluth remain scoreless.

Denver had the first eight shots on goal, all of which came during the first six minutes of the game. Since then, the Bulldogs have outshot the Pioneers 10 to 5.

The Bulldogs have blocked nine shots and the Pioneers, eight.

Duluth’s Dan Molenaar was called for elbowing with 2:28 left in the first, the only penalty of the period. The Pioneers had one shot on goal during their lone power play.

The game is being officiated by a Big Ten crew: referees Barry Pochmara and Colin Kronforst and linesmen Nick Bradshaw and Johnathan Morrison.
