Air Force loses sophomore goaltender Starrett to free-agent deal with Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers announced Monday they have signed free agent goaltender Shane Starrett to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Starrett appeared in 37 games with Air Force this season, going 26-6-4, with a 1.99 GAA, a .925 save percentage and five shutouts.

He was named the MVP at the Atlantic Hockey Final Four and was voted by his teammates as MVP for a second straight year.

Starrett was also a semifinalist this season for the Mike Richter Award.

In his two seasons at Air Force, Starrett posted a 42-15-9 record, a 1.96 GAA, a .925 save percentage and nine shutouts in 70 career games.
