Three things we learned: Dec. 11

1. Alaska captured its fifth-straight Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup and completed a sweep over in-state rival Alaska Anchorage. Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup was supposed to be determined by a best-of-six series with the Seawolves, but the Nanooks clinched it early by defeating UAA for the fourth time this season on Saturday.

2. Northern Michigan banked the extra points this week with a pair of specialty wins against Bemidji State, winning in both a shootout and in overtime.

3. Bowling Green moved into first place in the WCHA and have a one-point edge on Minnesota State with 28 points. The Mavericks have played two less games, so it could be a short-lived stretch at the top for the Falcons.
