USHL blueliner Bunz added to Providence roster, Friars lose Zieky, Ryczek to ‘other opportunities’

Providence announced on Wednesday that defenseman Davis Bunz will join the team for the start of the second half.

Bunz appeared in 18 games this fall with the USHL’s Central Illinois Flying Aces, totaling two goals and seven assists with plus-6 rating.

Prior to Central Illinois, Bunz spent the 2016-17 season with the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL, where he registered nine goals and 18 assists in 49 games played.

Bunz will wear No. 14 with the Friars.

The school also announced that sophomore forward Chase Zieky and freshman defenseman Jake Ryczek have left the program to “pursue other opportunities.”

Zieky had one assist in eight games with PC, while Ryczek, a Chicago Blackhawks prospect, posted a goal in five games.
