Michigan, Ohio State to play outdoors in Cleveland

Michigan is slated to play in its third outdoor game in as many seasons as published reports have the Wolverines and Ohio State playing at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Sunday, Jan. 15.

According to the Detroit News, Michigan coach Red Berenson confirmed this report. A press conference is reportedly scheduled for Friday at Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians.

“I’d never say no to an outdoor game,” Berenson said in the article. “It’s great for the players and unique for our fans. It’s throwback hockey. Our fans get fired up for outdoor games. They travel well.”

The game would be a home game for the Buckeyes.

Michigan skated in a game at Camp Randall Stadium against Wisconsin during the 2009-2010 season and last season at Michigan Stadium versus Michigan State.
