Omaha’s O’Rourke, Minnesota-Duluth’s Toninato suspended by NCHC

The NCHC handed out suspensions Saturday to Omaha’s Brian O’Rourke and Minnesota-Duluth’s Dominic Toninato.

O’Rourke will sit out the Mavericks’ next two games after a head-contact penalty in Friday’s loss to Colorado College.

The senior defenseman has played in 22 of Omaha’s 23 games this season, with three assists. He’ll miss Saturday’s game against the Tigers and the opener of a series against North Dakota on Jan. 30.

Toninato, a sophomore forward, got a one-game suspension for a major kneeing penalty in Friday’s tie with Western Michigan.

The Bulldogs’ leading scorer with 13 goals and 19 points, Toninato will sit out Saturday’s game against the Broncos.
