The Vancouver Canucks announced Monday that the team has signed Maine defenseman Ben Hutton.

Hutton recorded 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) with the Black Bears this season. In 108 career games at Maine, Hutton scored 28 goals and 37 assists for 65 points.

He was named a Second Team All-American, named to the Hockey East First Team and the recipient of the Bob Monahan Award (top defenseman in New England) following his 2013-14 season.

Hutton was originally selected by Vancouver in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2012 NHL draft.
