Maine promotes third-year assistant Guite to associate head coach

Maine assistant Ben Guite has been promoted to associate head coach.

Guite is entering his third season with the Black Bears.

“Ben has demonstrated excellence as a recruiter and as a coach,” said Maine head coach Red Gendron in a news release. “He has earned this promotion and will no doubt continue his exceptional work on behalf of Maine Hockey.”

“It’s been a great learning experience working with Red, [associate head coach] Jay [Leach] and our players for the past two years and I couldn’t be more excited to expand on my role with the team,” added Guite. “I want to thank [Maine director of athletics] Karlton Creech and Red for giving me the opportunity to continue growing our program and bring it back to where it belongs, at the top.”
