Big Ten suspends Minnesota’s Marooney one game for boarding penalty against Penn State

The Big Ten announced Monday that Minnesota freshman forward Joey Marooney has been suspended for one game as a result of an incident that occurred in the game against Penn State on Feb. 18.

The action was taken by the conference after a review of an incident that occurred near the 9:41 mark of the first period and resulted in the player receiving a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

Marooney is ineligible to play in Minnesota’s next game on Feb. 24 against Wisconsin.
