Atlantic Hockey suspends Army West Point’s Wilson, Canisius’ Mazza one game each for head contact penalties

Atlantic Hockey has issued one-game suspensions to Army West Point’s Michael Wilson and Canisius’ Jimmy Mazza following supplemental discipline reviews.

Wilson’s suspension comes as a result of the review of a contact to the head major and game misconduct that he received with 1:05 remaining in the second period Friday night against Robert Morris.

Upon the conclusion of that review, Atlantic Hockey officials determined that the call was correct and warranted another game on top, which will be served tonight as the Black Knights finish their series at RMU.

Mazza is being suspended for a similar contact to the head major and game misconduct that he was called for with 10:24 remaining in the third period against Air Force Friday night.

The review showed that Mazza made direct contact with his shoulder to an already vulnerable Air Force player’s head. Thus, Mazza will be forced to sit in tonight’s conclusion versus the Falcons.
