NCHC suspends Western Michigan’s Passolt one game for head contact penalty against Omaha

The NCHC has issued a one-game suspension to Western Michigan sophomore forward Josh Passolt.

The suspension stems from an illegal hit to the head during the Broncos game against Omaha Friday night at Baxter Arena in Omaha.

During last night’s game, Passolt was assessed a minor penalty for indirect contact to the head at 12:23 of the third period. The play was reviewed by the officials on the ice during the game.

Based upon the video available to officials during the review process, the minor penalty was upheld. Additional angles were made available after the game, which showed an illegal and direct hit to the head.

Passolt will be required to serve the one-game suspension during WMU’s series finale Saturday night against the Mavericks in Omaha. Passolt is eligible to return for the Broncos in their series opener against North Dakota on Friday, Feb. 15.
