United States off to World Junior semifinals after knocking off Switzerland in quarterfinals

[scg_html_wjc2017]Jeremy Bracco (OHL’s Kitchener Rangers) and Jordan Greenway (Boston University) each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the U.S. National Junior Team past Switzerland 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the 2017 World Junior Championship Monday night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

“We were fortunate to get the win,” said Team USA coach Bob Motzko (St. Cloud State) in a statement. “A tremendous credit to Switzerland for the heart and courage they showed here tonight. We weren’t our best, we know that, but we found a way to make it through and we’ll look to get back to our style of hockey here on Wednesday.”

United States captain Luke Kunin (Wisconsin) also scored in the win, while Tyler Parsons (OHL’s London Knights) finished with 19 saves for the win in goal.

Team USA (5-0-0-0) advances to the semifinals on Wednesday against Russia at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The game will be televised live on the NHL Network and the official start time will be announced later Monday night.
