St. John’s has announced the hiring of Cory Thorson as an assistant coach.

Thorson served as an SJU assistant coach for two seasons from 2015 to 2017 before he left to take over as head coach and general manager of the NA3HL’s Billings Bulls.

His immediate duties for SJU will include recruiting and coaching the forwards.

A 2014 graduate of St. Cloud State, Thorson played four seasons with the Huskies and compiled 57 points (28 goals, 29 assists) in 131 games. He was a member of the NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament team as the Huskies reached the Frozen Four in 2013.
