UMass Lowell goaltender Metcalf leaves school, future plans unknown

Goaltender Garrett Metcalf will not return to UMass Lowell for the 2017-18 season, according to SB Nation College Hockey.

Metcalf, who just completed his freshman season with UML playing in just four games, has also been removed from the roster on the River Hawks’ official hockey website.

The Salt Lake City native was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.

It is unknown if Metcalf will be transferring to another school or turning pro with Anaheim. As a 1996 birth year, he is ineligible for junior hockey.
