Providence’s Walman, Boston University’s Hickey invited to Canada’s World Junior selection camp

Hockey Canada announced Tuesday that Providence sophomore defenseman Jake Walman and Boston University sophomore defenseman Brandon Hickey have been invited to Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp.

Walman is a dual Canadian/United States citizen who calls Toronto home, while Hickey is from Leduc, Alta.

A total of 30 players (the other 28 are from the major junior ranks) were invited to the camp that will take place from Dec. 10-14 at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke, Ont. The camp will feature two games against a team comprised of Canadian Interuniversity Sport players on Dec. 12-13.

In total, 22 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship slated to take place from Dec. 26, 2015 through Jan. 5, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.
