NCHA picks St. Scholastica’s Olson as next commissioner

The NCHA has selected St. Scholastica athletic director Don Olson as its next commissioner.

Olson, a former coach at St. Mary’s and player at Harvard, has been a member and chair of the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Committee.

He’ll join the league on July 1, replacing G. Steven Larson.

“The NCHA is well-positioned to make significant progress in the years ahead and Don Olson is an excellent choice to lead this effort,” Adrian President Jeffrey Docking said in a statement. “He has outstanding hockey pedigree, having played at Harvard as an undergraduate, and great experience in athletic administration. We feel confident that Don is the right person at the right time for the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.”

Olson has been the athletic director at St. Scholastica since 2008. He’ll finish his tenure there at the end of the academic year.
