St. John’s to play three games in Tokyo during May 15-25 trip

St. John’s will make its second international trip under head coach Doug Schueller when the Johnnies travel to Japan from May 15-25.

The 31-person travel party includes 25 players.

The Johnnies visited Italy and Germany Dec. 27, 2013 to Jan. 4 2014.

SJU will play in three games at Dydo Drinco Arena in Tokyo – May 17 vs. Kanto University All-Star C, May 19 vs. Kanto All-Star B and May 20 vs. Kanto All-Star A.

The hockey team will also take in a Japanese baseball game, watching the Tokyo Giants on May 18 at the Tokyo Dome, and will be in Tokyo during Sanja Matsuri (May 18-20), which is one of the three great Shinto festivals in Tokyo.

On May 21, the group will travel to Karuizawa in the Nagaon Prefecture for the rest of the trip to explore Japanese culture. Karuizawa is a popular summer resort area for Tokyo.

A curling clinic at Karuizawa’s Kazakoshi Park is also on the itinerary.
