Elmira alum Jackson named Soaring Eagles’ women’s coach

Dean Jackson, who has spent the past five seasons as an assistant with the Elmira men’s team, has been named head coach of the Soaring Eagles’ women’s team.

“My family and I are very excited for this fantastic opportunity to lead such a tremendous program,” said Jackson in a news release. “Coach [Greg] Fargo has left a positive impact on the program and I look forward to continue the winning culture.”

Fargo stepped down in May to accept the head women’s coaching job at Colgate.

Jackson played for the Soaring Eagles from 1999-2003, garnering ECAC West rookie of the year honors in 1999, was named to the ECAC West All-Conference Second Team in 2003 and was named the ECAC West tournament’s most outstanding player in 2003. Additionally, Jackson captained the 2002-2003 team.

After college, Jackson played minor pro hockey in the United Hockey League and Southern Professional Hockey League.

During both his collegiate and professional career, Jackson has served as a head instructor, program coordinator, assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for World Class Hockey Development Canada.
